La comunidad de El Potrero se localiza a un costado de la carretera
Salvatierra-Yuriria, justo en el entronque que se desvía hacia San Nicolás de
los Agustinos y las comunidades con las que colinda son: El Rancho de
Guadalupe, Ojuelos, El Capulín, La Quemada y San Nicolás de los Agustinos.
Antecedentes
Históricos
El ejido del Potrero fue fundado en el año de 1926, se le puso ese nombre
porque en ese entonces pertenecía al
ejido de la hacienda de San Nicolás de los Agustinos y como su nombre lo dice
era un lugar donde se encontraban los animales de dicha hacienda, en el momento
en que se comenzó a poblar decidieron
ponerle el nombre de “El Potrero” por la costumbre de la crianza de animales en
lo que ahora es esa comunidad.

Actividad
Económica
La
comunidad del Potrero se dedica a la actividad agrícola, siendo las hortalizas
(cebolla, brócoli, coliflor) el principal fruto que recogen de las tierras, sin
dejar a un lado los granos (maíz, frijol, sorgo, cebada). Estos cultivos se dan
en todo el año.
Necesidades
• Pavimentación e instalación del drenaje mediante el
vínculo que se dé con las autoridades municipales por razón de las políticas
públicas.
• Apoyo de parte del sector salud para el establecimiento
de una clínica que abastezca las necesidades de la comunidad, ya que cuentan
con la facilidad de tener un médico a su servicio.
• Contar con más rutas de transporte, ya que solo se cuenta
con un autobús que no cubre las necesidades de la comunidad en ese rubro.
• Apoyo a los
productores agrícolas de parte del municipio.
Problemáticas
• Escaso apoyo agrícola.
• Falta de proyectos dirigidos a los agricultores.
